The Presents of Christmas
Tiny crystals of snow are softly falling from the heavens on this day, cloaking the evergreens in a subtle white coat. It’s extremely cold once again, however, utterly magical.
Excitement is growing as Christmas is only a few days away.
Christmas is such a beautiful time of the year and life is way too short to miss out on these special occasions. Therefore, the decorating started early this year; ornaments began to adorn our home in late November. The Christmas baking began last Sunday, although all the cookies I made have already vanished!
The most meaningful part is embracing the traditions we grew up with. The recipes that bring back delightful memories, going to midnight mass as we used to with the whole family, and driving to the peaceful mountains to find our Christmas tree.
It is also about being truly connected to our surroundings, the conversations we have and the foods we share, the sparks of pure joy, the laughter… I want to fully savor each and every one of these magical moments.
Our families are afar, but we are ever so grateful for today’s technology to bring us together! We’ve sent out goodies wrapped with love for them to enjoy and we’ve received theirs. All in all, seeing their smiles and sharing stories over video calls gives us a sense of closeness, even though thousands of kilometers separate us.
May we all find moments of magic in the days ahead, fill our hearts with light, and feel a great sense of renewal and hope, as these are the true presents of Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones,
Christine
